The AW-500 Series revives a famous model from the past. The AW-500 now making a comeback emerged as the first analog-digital combination G-Shock model in 1989, turning on its head the preconceived notion that analog watches were susceptible to shock due to their delicate hands, gears and other parts. It uses the popular Redout design. Not only does this model include the basic stopwatch and alarm features, but it is also equipped with practical features including EL backlight and a battery with seven years' life.

Following numerous past reissues and collaborations, this is a revival of a G-Shock classic.
